Since its inception in 2017 in the Rohingya refugee camps, RISDA-Bangladesh’s Humanitarian Response Program has been dedicated to providing critical aid and ensuring the safety, health, and well-being of affected populations, regardless of gender or age. The program delivers integrated support across multiple sectors, including shelter, food and non-food items, healthcare and nutrition, water and sanitation (WASH) facilities, education in emergencies, energy and environmental interventions, vocational training, and relief and rehabilitation.

During 2023–2024, the program achieved significant milestones. Approximately 8,750 adults received vocational skills training, empowering them for sustainable livelihoods, while over 12,000 children benefited from non-formal primary education (NFPE). Health interventions reached 20,000 patients with primary medical treatment, and 12,000 families received food support. An equal number of families were also provided with non-food items and sanitation assistance. These interventions collectively improved health, hygiene, nutrition, and education outcomes for vulnerable communities.

RISDA-Bangladesh emphasizes a moral and social obligation to support disadvantaged populations. The organization mobilizes resources from its own contributions to fund relief activities, including support for fire-affected families at Gulistan Hocker’s Market, treatment for poor patients, distribution of winter clothing, educational materials for underprivileged children and youth, and meat distribution through the Qurbani Program across project locations. In the reporting year, approximately TK 155,500 was expended on these humanitarian initiatives, reflecting RISDA’s commitment to alleviating suffering and promoting social equity.

Through a holistic and responsive approach, RISDA-Bangladesh’s Humanitarian Program ensures that vulnerable populations gain timely access to essential services, skills, and resources. These interventions strengthen resilience, promote dignity, and contribute to sustainable recovery, in alignment with RISDA’s broader mission of socio-economic development and social protection.
